Man in serious condition after St Annes crash

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in St Annes yesterday evening (Sunday, January 3).

Emergency services were called to St David's Road South after a crash involving a van and car at around 7.50pm.

Two fire engines attended and firefighters had to use cutting tools to rescue a man trapped inside one of the vehicles.

The man, aged in his mid-30s, was then stretchered to a waiting ambulance and rushed to Royal Preston Hospital for urgent treatment.

A fire service spokesman said: "Two fire engines from St Annes were called to a road traffic collision involving one car and one van on St Davids Road South, St Annes.

"Firefighters worked with paramedics to release one person from a vehicle and they were later taken to hospital."

An ambulance service spokesman added: "We attended the scene of a crash in St David's Road South involving a van and a car.

"One casualty, a man in his mid-30s, was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital in a serious condition."
