A man was cut free from his vehicle and taken to hospital after his car collided with a van on the M6 in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, aged in his 60s, was cut from the car while the occupants of the van walked free after they hit each other on the southbound carriageway between J31, for Preston and the M55, and J32, for Lancaster, at around 2am.
A cordon was set up around the third lane for emergency services to work on the scene. The patient was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
