Confused commuters may be arriving late to work this morning as a railway bridge scheduled to reopen today remains closed.
Network Rail announced last week the bridge at Tithebarn Street in Poulton would open on May 1, three weeks ahead of schedule.
But as drivers made their way to work in the morning rush hour, hoping for a newly-opened road, they were shocked to find it still closed and continuing to cause traffic problems.
The road has been closed since January while Network Rail carries out work to electrify the line between Blackpool and Preston.
A spokesman for the rail company apologised for any confusion, and confirmed the road would be open later on Wednesday.
