THE M6 was closed last night as firefighters fought a huge tyre blaze.
An articulated lorry carrying 10 tonnes of tyres caught fire at 8.45pm on the northbound carriageway between Forton Services and Junction 33.
Both sides of the motorway were closed for several hours as firefighters used six pumps to tackle the blaze.
They had to use 200 litres of wardash foam to douse the flames.
Smoke woes after blaze
FIRE crews were called out to a house blaze.
Crews were called to a property on Senior Avenue, Blackpool, shortly after 5pm.
The fire caused smoke damage to a bedroom and severe damage to papers, a TV and TV stand.
Despite the damage, Lancashire Fire and Rescue said no-one was injured in the blaze.
Damage done in store fire
FIRE crews attended an early morning fire at a Tesco store.
Two vehicles attended the scene at 3.01am on Sunday after a refrigeration generator at the back of the store, on Poulton Road, Fleetwood, caught fire.
The generator was destroyed by the flames, but no people were injured in the incident.
