A pensioner has slammed the state of a bus station – claiming it will put people off visiting Cleveleys just months after it was revamped.

Marjorie Cornan, 67, regularly uses Cleveleys Bus Station, but has labelled it a “disgrace” after bird excrement was found covering the ground.

Mrs Cornan, of Flints Caravan Park, River Road, Thornton, has now started a petition to get the terminal cleaned before visitors abandon the Wyre town.

She said: “The state of the bus station is absolutely terrible.

“There’s bird poo on the seats, the ground and the flags, and since they spent thousands of pounds doing it up, it’s worse.

“The flags could have been power washed but I don’t think they have and they are a complete and utter mess.”

Mrs Cornan is calling for action to be taken by Wyre Council to clean up the station and has urged others who use the station to stop feeding the birds who inhabit the Rough Lea Road site.

She added: “There’s a sign up which says don’t feed the birds but there’s people who don’t take any notice and it’s an utter disgrace. It’s untidy and anyone visiting Cleveleys will be put off.”

A spokeswoman for Wyre Council said they are looking into Mrs Cornan’s reports and will be taking action to clean up the bus station.

The station re-opened in December 2012 after £225,000 was spent on improvements.
