BLACKPOOL and Fylde dental cadets are full of smiles after picking up their new qualifications.
The youngsters had enrolled in a 22-month programme run by the NHS and Training 2000 to offer 16 to 18-year-olds the training they need to move into the dental profession.
Ten young people passed their NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 2 while eight achieved their Level 3 NVQ Diploma.
Louise Eadie, dental cadet co-ordinator, said: “The programme has proven to be extremely popular and is supported by local dentists around Blackpool and the Fylde coast. We would like to thank them and their teams for their support.”
The cadet of the year award was presented to Charlotte Lavender in community dental services, while the cadet achievement award went to Cherish Gillett.
Charlotte, from Kirkham, said: “It was a great course that has really prepared me for life in a dental surgery and to get the cadet of the year award was a lovely bonus.”
