A man has died after falling ill at the wheel of his car and colliding with four other vehicles.
John Ashworth, from Wrea Green, was travelling from the village towards Kirkham when he suddenly became unwell at the wheel of his silver Mercedes on Wednesday.
The 79-year-old was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital, suffering serious injuries, but passed away in hospital today.
The incident happened on Ribby Road, Wrea Green, shortly after 1pm.
The car collided with the rear of a BMW which then pushed into a Ford Fiesta. This then collided head on with a Honda Civic which collided with the near side of a Range Rover.
Another person was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, North West Ambulance said, but police have said all others involved suffered only minor injuries or shock.
The road was closed for around three hours for police to investigate.
