COMMUTERS faced disruption after a man was killed by a Blackpool-bound train.

British Transport Police were called to the scene of the accident close to Bamber Bridge railway station around 11am on Thursday morning following reports the 9.50am Colne to Blackpool train had struck a 77-year-old man.

Lancashire Police and Lancashire Ambulance service attended the incident but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “BTP and Lancashire Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 11.03am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
