A man has been arrested for drink driving after a high speed motorway crash near Blackpool this morning.
The 24-year-old driver was reportedly found to be four times the legal limit when he was stopped by police after smashing into the central reservation of the M55 just outside the resort.
Two lanes were closed for more than three hours due to oil on the road following the collision, at 4.40am on the westbound carriageway, when a blue Citroen Saxo heading towards Blackpool lost control near to junction four.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Were got a call at 4.40am after a vehicle crashed into the central reservation. A couple of lanes were closed but, due to the time, there was not too much disruption to traffic.”
No other cars were involved and police said nobody was injured.
