Closures for M55 junction resurfacing

An area around junction 4 of the M55 will be closed for resurfacing next week.

An area around junction 4 of the M55 will be closed for resurfacing next week.

The motorway junction into Blackpool will be closed in part for three nights next week.

A section of the M55 motorway, around the far western end at junction 4 where the road meets the roundabout to Yeadon Way and Progress Way, is to be resurfaced.

The work will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night, January 13, 14 and 15.

The £66,000 project will mean alternate closures of the exit slip road onto the roundabout at junction 4 where it meets the A583 Preston New Road or the main carriageway west of junction 4 where the motorway merges with the A5230.

Bosses from the Highways Agency, which will be undertaking the work, have said clearly-signed diversions will be in place.

Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: “This is routine work to tackle wear and tear along this section of the M55 and is designed to give drivers smoother journeys along this busy commuter and visitor route into Blackpool.

“We have timed the work to ensure it is taking place outside the main summer and Blackpool Illuminations holiday periods.”
