Kirkham baths marked its centenary birthday in style with a fun-filled day of activities.
And the birthday landmark, held on Saturday, came after a surprise present when staff received the news that a bid for funding was successful and work can start on a £59,308 redevelopment.
Lee Appleton, manager of Kirkham baths, said: “It was a great day of fun and a brilliant way to celebrate 100 years of Kirkham baths.
“There was about 150 people here today which we are very thankful for.”
Visitors at the baths were treated to a packed day of activities which included stalls selling refreshments and hosting various games.
People could also take advantage of free swims and gym sessions. The day was rounded off by Mr Appleton taking part in ‘dunk the manager’. He wasn’t delighted about the prospect of his jelly and custard dunk though.
He said: “It wasn’t great but it was OK, it was pretty cold and smelly...but what else would you expect.”
