A TOURISM attraction has been named one of the top three in the country – and has been praised for its efforts.
Ribby Hall Village picked up a bronze award in the business tourism category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012.
The awards recognise excellence in different aspects of tourism in England.
Ribby’s business and banqueting team were presented with their award by James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland, at a ceremony in Athena, an Art Deco gem located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.
Mr Berresford said: “In a year when we received a record of 392 high quality applications, winning a bronze award is a considerable achievement.
“Ribby Hall Village business and banqueting is now ranked in the top three businesses in their category for excellence, achieving one of the highest accolades which VisitEngland can bestow.
“I warmly congratulate them.”
The venue has a tree house which can be hired as a boardroom for businesses looking for a meeting place with a difference – along with a full suite of conference rooms and facilities.
And the destination’s spa hotel is winning plaudits just a year after it launched, boasting an “aqua-thermal” journey, treatment rooms and many other facilities.
Ribby Hall Village business and banqueting manager Paul Green was delighted with the result.
He said: “We are delighted to win this prestigious award – it’s a fantastic achievement for the team and reflects the hard work, passion and professionalism that they bring to our business and that our guests enjoy.”
David Hodgkinson, sales director at award sponsor Barclaycard, said the team epitomised the spirit of their award.
He added: “We’re especially proud to be this year’s official partner for the VisitEngland Excellence Awards.
“In England we can be proud of our diverse and successful tourism industry and we understand the passion that goes into any service industry; we know it takes dedication and an unwavering commitment to make a business successful.
“Ribby Hall Village truly reflects the spirit of this award and is a worthy winner – congratulations.”
