The countdown is on to this year’s Taps charity bike ride, which takes place on Sunday, July 7.

The event is now in its 14th year and in that time has raised some £90,000 for cancer-related charities.

This year, the beneficiaries will be the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and Macmillan Nurses and among those taking part will be Taps bar staff members Martin Green and Tasha Howarth, who plan to tackle the ride on a tandem.

They are pictured above with landlord Steve Norris, who is at the helm of The Taps in Henry Street, Lytham for his first ride after taking over from long-serving Ian Rigg. Steve said: “It promises to be a great day.”

Last year’s event attracted some 90 riders and raised more than £6,500.

The ride traditionally sets off from The Taps and takes in wide swathes of the Fylde countryside as it offers a choice of circuits covering 15 or 30 miles.
