Poor weather conditions are causing mayhem on the motorway this morning.

Motorists have reported at least one crash involving three cars eastbound on the M55, close to the junction for Kirkham, police said.

A spokesman for the force said one, believed to be a Ford Focus, hit a central reservation at around 7.50am.

Two others were reported to have left the road and be in a roadside ditch, he added.

An ambulance has been called to the scene.

The accident came as wind, rain, and hail battered the Fylde coast.
