Life at one Fleetwood school is set to become golden as it celebrates its landmark 50th birthday.
Pupils and teachers both past and present will spend the coming weeks revelling in Cardinal Allen school’s history with a range of events to herald the milestone.
A golden jubilee mass will be held at the school on July 12 and led by Bishop Michael of Lancaster.
Past and present pupils and teachers are set to receive an invitation to the main event, which involves entertainment provided by a gospel choir of 70 pupils, staff and parents. The following day, the school will welcome back a host of former pupils throughout the day and into the evening.
Staff will show-off the school in its current form and reunite old friends during the day, while the evening will be a party to celebrate the school’s opening by the Bishop of Lancaster on March 2, 1963.
Philip Mooney, headteacher of the Melbourne Avenue school, said: “A great deal of planning has gone into the events of the weekend. The sports hall will be beautifully decked out with a marquee and carpet to complement the bar and stage areas.
“We hope past pupils, former staff and governors will join us at one of the three events that weekend.”
Tickets are released on April 24 and can be bought from the school office or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
