An event to celebrate the hard work of Blackpool’s unsung heroes will be held for the second year running next month.
Blackpool’s Big Volunteer Thank you will take place on Wednesday November 6 at the Spanish Hall in the Winter Gardens.
Hundreds of community workers who give their time freely to support activities across the town are expected to attend the event between 2pm and 4.30pm.
Organisers want to ensure they get in touch with as many people as possible.
Lynn Saggerson, chief executive of the Volunteer Centre, based at Stanley Park, said: “The event is in its second year, thanks to the support of Blackpool Council, and its purpose is to publicly thank all our fabulous volunteers for all the many contributions they make to the town by giving us their time, energy and expertise to help others.
“We want to ensure we get as many volunteers involved as possible and are urging them to contact us if they want to come along.”
As well as information stalls offering valuable advice to volunteers, there will also be entertainment including music from local bands and afternoon tea.
The 2013 Volunteer of the Year award will also be presented.
Elaine Smith, of the Friends of Stanley Park, said: “So many people work really hard as volunteers in Blackpool and it is nice to see that recognised.”
