Welcome to my house...
A father and son partnership have opened a Bispham restaurant almost a decade after they first had the chance to work alongside each other.
Antonio Martin-Melero, 34, has set up Mi Casa Su Casa (My House Your House) after he turned down the opportunity to take over his family’s former Fleetwood cafe because he felt he was too inexperienced.
Mi Casa Su Casa, on Red Bank Road, Bispham, is owned and managed by Antonio, while his experienced father, Pablo, offers guidance during his son’s first steps into business.
Antonio, who gave up a career in sales to return to his family’s roots, said: “I had the chance to takeover his business about nine years ago, but after doing other things I’ve returned to my roots and opened up this tapas bar.
“When he came up to the point of retirement I was only 24 and didn’t feel like I could deal with the pressure or responsibility, so I didn’t take up the opportunity.”
Antonio gave up a career in London to return to Bispham, and is enjoying life as his dad’s boss.
He added: “I worked in sales for L’Oreal in London then had a total career change, and did a chef’s course for two years while working in catering. We have a very good working relationship. His experience is invaluable.”
