A teenage gambling addict burgled his mother twice to get cash to feed his addiction.
Preston Crown Court was told that John Crompton was initially questioned by police after the first break-in and denied being involved, only to strike again a couple of weeks later.
More than £1,700 of property and cash was stolen.
Crompton, 19, of Alexandra Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary.
He asked for a second burglary offence, plus two of fraud to be taken into consideration.
The offences were carried out at this mother’s address on Morston Avenue, Blackpool, in July and August.
Julie Taylor, defending, said: “He is incredibly remorseful and ashamed of what he has done. He hopes at some stage to reconcile with his mother.”
Crompton was given six months jail, suspended for two years, with 12 months supervision.
In addition, he will be on a three months long curfew every night from 9pm-7am.
