Former Gazette Rock Quest winners Switchboard Spectacular have been shortlisted to the final 20 to play the Volvo Snowbombing Festival 2011 in Austria.
It’s a weekend long festival of bands and world-class DJs – plus a variety of ice-based activities – in the chocolate box alpine setting of Mayrhofen, Austria.
Acts confirmed for this year’s 12th bill are The Prodigy, Fat Boy Slim, Pendulum, Example, Professor Green, The Sunshine Underground and many others.
Four unsigned bands are being given the opportunity to battle it out on a stage at the show on snow, the winner being crowned King of the Mountain, claiming a cash prize of 2,000 Euros, and supporting a band on the main bill.
Switchboard Spectacular have been chosen out of hundreds of applicants and now have to battle down from the top 20 to four using online public votes. The four with the most votes then go to Austria to battle for the top spot.
They are the only Lancashire band in the top 20 and voting can be done at www.gigwise.com/band/Switchboard%20Spectacular.
Voting closes on Tuesday February 22 so they want as many Fylde Coast rock fans as possible to vote for them.
Their Entertainment EP is free to download from www.reverbnation.com/switchboardspectacular
The band’s line-up is Beth Pawson (drums), Arran Lomax (bass), Andy Palreyman (cornet/keys) and Dan Clayton (vocals/guitar).
