A SWIMARATHON has raised thousands of pounds for charity for the 27th year on the bounce.

The Lytham St Annes Lions Club event saw teams of eight swimmers take the plunge to complete the challenge at the YMCA Leisure Centre, St Annes, to raise money for defibrillators in schools.

Organiser Joe Woods told The Gazette: “It’s gone very well and it’s fun for all the family.

“It’s been going for 27 years now and those people who swam as children are coming back to swim as adults with their children.”
