BUDDING journalists are celebrating after their creative talents were recognised on the national stage.
Students from Blackpool Sixth Form College took away one of the top gongs at the Shine 2012 Media Awards in London, after wowing the judges with their Sixth Sense magazine.
And not only did the students scoop the overall prize for Best Magazine, they also won the top prize in the best cover category and were highly commended in the categories for best design and layout, best feature article and best community initiative.
The students were handed a £1000 prize and the chance to attend a workshop at The Times Education Supplement’s offices for winning Best Magazine, and have also scored the college a brand new QuarkXpress 9 system for its computers.
Peter Schaebbicke, European channel and education programmes director at Quark, said: “All of this year’s submissions showed a lot of creativity and remarkable skills in the production of print publications.”
