YOUNGSTERS are set to walk with a TV star in a bid to raise money to keep memories alive.
Pupils at Ansdell Primary School are holding their very own Memory Day in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
And they have invited the charity’s ambassador and actress Lynda Bellingham (pictured) – who’s performing in Calendar Girls at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens later this month – along to launch their fundraising drive.
Around 180 of the Lansdowne Road school’s pupils will take part in the sponsored walk around nearby Fairhaven Lake, which has been organised by teaching assistant Katie Mallalieu.
Miss Mallalieu said: “The children are really excited about being visited by a celebrity.
“As part of the day we are also inviting grandparents, they all know Lynda and are really looking forward to meeting her.
“Quite a lot of our children have family members who have been affected by Alzheimer’s and I hope our Memory Day will help them to understand.”
All the school’s seven to 11-year-old pupils will be involved in the walk and Lynda, whose own mum Ruth had Alzheimer’s, added: “I am so impressed with what the pupils are doing to help raise money to support people with Alzheimer’s,”
The walk will take place on Thursday, September 29.
