SHOWBIZ stars will be out in force to help launch Blackpool’s Poppy Appeal.

The annual Poppython will be held at the Royal British Legion Club on King Street in central Blackpool on Saturday, October 22.

The seven-hour spectacular, raises money for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, which supports servicemen, will feature local funny men Johnnie Casson and Syd Little, Mo and Sandy from the Roly Polys and the Nolan brothers, Tommy and Brian.

Ian Coleman, the show’s producer and compere, said: “We’ve raised more than £100,000 over the years.

“The show is known as the entertainers’ contribution to the Blackpool Poppy Appeal.

“There will be around 30 acts. All the stars come and do the show for nothing, they don’t even get any expenses.

“There is a big finale in the last hour-and-a-half – it’s incredible stuff. People come from all over the country for it. It kick-starts the Poppy Appeal in Lancashire.”

The show has been running for an impressive 22 years.

Other stars taking part this year include Paul Morgan and The Showcase Dancers,

Mr Coleman added: “Since the first opening show on November 10, 1990 there have been literally thousands of entertainers on our Poppython.

We are justly proud of our achievements in making people happy while simultaneously doing our bit. Please come and support those who have served our country.”

Doors open at 10am, with the show taking place between 11.30am and 6.30pm.

Admission is £2.50.
