An animal-themed revamp to Stanley Park’s young children’s playground has been given a boost thanks to a £60,000 grant.

The Friends of Stanley Park and Blackpool Council are teaming up to revitalise the area, aimed at two to eight-year-olds.

Now, thanks to SITA’s Enhancing Communities Funding Programme, the proposals – which include modern versions of rocking horses, see saws, slides, swings and roundabouts with a safari theme – are one step closer to becoming a reality.

Coun Graham Cain, Blackpool Council cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “This is fantastic news which brings us closer to making the work happen.”

Around £70,000 is now needed to complete the project.
