PEOPLE out and about today have wrapped up warm against the snow starting to fall across the Fylde.

A flurry began on Friday morning, and more was predicted for later in the afternoon.

But the snow shouldn’t stop the county moving, as Lancashire’s gritters have been out in force since the cold snap started last week.

Roads have been salted as a precaution in the evenings, and grit has been spread during the night where necessary.

Workers are now getting ready to keep the main routes clear in response to an alert from the Met Office that a band of snow could affect Lancashire from mid-morning on Friday.

The county council has also put on standby a number of agricultural contractors who clear more remote rural roads in the event of heavy snow.
