A MAN arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a toddler at knifepoint has been released.
Police arrested the 31-year-old on Tuesday as part of their hunt for the knifeman who attempted to abduct two-year-old Ellie Gibson while she was playing in the garden of her home in Erdington Road, Blackpool.
He was quizzed by detectives before being released.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police today confirmed: “The 31-year-old man from Blackpool who was arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction has been released no charge.
“Inquiries are continuing and we would continue to appeal for anybody with any information to come forward.”
The terrifying incident happened on Thursday when, at around 6.40pm, a man scaled a 6ft wall to get into the garden.
He used a knife to slash the child’s trampoline before grabbing little Ellie.
The youngster’s shocked mum Janine traced to her daughter’s rescue and the man fled.
