The station, based on The Esplanade in the port, welcomed hundreds of visitors to its base, with help from Blackpool RNLI, Barrow RNLI and Morecambe RNLI, including the team’s hovercraft.

The event on Saturday included stalls and demonstrations on the water, as well as a yacht sail past, featuring some of the high-powered boats the charity uses on rescues.

A lifeboat spokesman said: “It was a great day and excellent to have so many people in attendance.

“Everyone enjoyed the Marina sail past as well as having a look around the boats we have.

“Last year’s event raised £1,500 for the charity so we are hoping for a similar amount again.”
