A professional singer, stopped after police saw him weaving about the road in a car, was found to be over the alcohol limit.

Joseph Mills, 21, of Clarence Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and having a defective tyre.

He was banned from the road for 17 months, fined £145 with £85 costs and ordered to pay £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool Magistrates.

Kerry Grieve, prosecuting, said police saw Mills weaving over Yeadon Way on April 4 at 9.50pm .

The court heard when asked to take a roadside breath test Mills said: “I would rather not. I was out last night and had a lot to drink.”
