A MAN said to be depressed after splitting up with his girlfriend stole alcohol and cigarettes from his local shop.

Christopher Derbyshire, 22, of Irvine Close, Bispham, admitted two offences of stealing whiskey and cigarettes worth £70.

Steven Townley, defending, said: “My client was very depressed at the time of these offences.

“However he has just got himself a job and started to turn his life round.”

Derbyshire was given a 12-month conditional discharge by Blackpool Magistrates.
