A MILLION pound scheme to extend a Blackpool nightspot has been given planning permission.
The application for a ground floor restaurant and provision of a new entrance at the Sands Venue on the Promenade was agreed by planners using delegated powers.
It is part of the second phase of the redevelopment of the former Palace nightclub.
The Sands Venue opened last August and owner Peter Swann has already invested 1.5m in the first phase which includes a first floor cabaret room.
It is currently closed to allow work to be carried out and is scheduled to re-open in April, creating 40 new jobs.
The proposals include a daytime eaterie on the ground floor and a second, more intimate restaurant and Champagne bar on the second floor, while the new entrance from the Promenade will have two lifts installed.
External lighting is also to be improved. The external stairway currently being used is due to be removed as part of regeneration work by the council.
