A woman was taken to hospital after she entered the sea last night.
Blackpool RNLI and police were called out to the scene next to North Pier, Blackpool, at 8.25pm when they received reports a group of people were in the water.
It is believed the group had been drinking, however the woman, aged in her early 20s, had already left the water by the time lifeboat crews arrived.
A spokeswoman for Blackpool RNLI said: “One of our station’s D class lifeboats launched but the casualty had made their own way to safety before the lifeboat reached the scene.
“Blackpool RNLI landrover transported the casualty from the beach to an ambulance as a precaution but apart from being cold and wet the casualty was unharmed by the ordeal.”
The woman was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for a check-up.
