POLICE have launched an investigation after a headteacher was viciously attacked just yards from his school gates.
Jim Keefe was on Broadway, close to Arnold School in South Shore, when a substance - believed to be bleach - was thrown in his face yesterday morning.
It is not known why the popular headmaster was targeted, but there has been speculation the attack was linked to the merger of the South Shore school with rival King Edward and Queen Mary’s School (KEQMS), in St Annes, which was officially given the go-ahead on Friday.
Mr Keefe, who will be headmaster of the newly-formed Arnold KEQMS (AKS) from September, was taken to hospital following the incident but has since been released.
