Iconic British pop stars Madness will complete the line-up at Blackpool’s Illuminations Switch-On weekend, The Gazette can reveal.
The chart-topping Londoners will headline at The Tower Festival Headland on Saturday, August 31 for the second concert to celebrate the resort’s Lights Switch-On.
Their show will close the first ever two-day Switch On, and will follow Friday’s event which will be headlined by Irish rock stars The Script and will see TV chat show legend Jonathan Ross officially switch on the 2013 Illuminations.
Pop star Eliza Doolittle will also perform that night.
It will be the first time Blackpool’s biggest night of the year has been extended into a weekend event.
Natalie Wyatt, managing director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “Madness is the perfect act to complete the line-up for our first ever full Switch-On weekend event.
“Their songs are known universally and appreciated by a really wide audience.”
