Sarah Price is half the woman she used to be. Literally.

And Sarah’s incredible weight loss – which she says has transformed her life – is down to her joining her local gym.

The mum-of-two, from Warton, has shed an impressive 10.5st and more than halved her dress size, going from a size 32 to size 14, in the last two-and-a-half years.

And she says there’s no real secret to her success – just regular exercise and a healthy, balanced diet.

Sarah said: “I feel amazing, it’s wonderful – I’m a lot more confident. I have so much energy, I can’t believe the difference.

“My doctor says I am
boringly healthy – which makes me very happy!

“About four years ago, I did a midnight walk for charity and couldn’t finish. Now, I go to the gym five days a week, do fitness classes, interval training – I really enjoy it.

“My family’s really proud – my husband thinks it’s amazing, my daughter who’s 23, thinks it’s great. And my mum, who is 60, has started going to the gym, it gave her the encouragement.”

When Sarah first went to B Active Gym, at Aerospace in Warton, it was daunting.

“I hadn’t been miserable and I wasn’t unwell, but when I turned 40, I felt I really should do something – before I started to develop health problems.

“I was worried I could end up one day with health issues like heart disease or diabetes.

“I was terrified the first time I went to the gym – it was the first time I had ever set foot in one. But the staff there were great.

“I just did 10 minutes on the bike and some walking.

“I’d been concerned everyone at the gym would be really thin, wearing Lycra, all super-fit.

“But it wasn’t like that. It was really friendly and everybody was so positive.

“They did me an exercise plan and I built it up.

“I made changes to what I was eating – before, I ate a lot of processed stuff. I started making meals from scratch, so I knew they were healthy and what was in them.”

Not only does Sarah feel great physically since changing her lifestyle, it’s also meant she can enjoy clothes shopping.

“I went to buy a dress in Debenhams and it had been 17 or 18 years since I could buy a dress on the high street.

“I tried one on and cried. The lady in Debenhams was wonderful.

“I explained to her why and she got me more stuff to try on – just because I could.”

Sarah – who works at a psychiatric hospital – had already lost weight and improved her fitness, when she started working with personal trainer Lloyd Everett to give her more of a boost.

She said: “My body shape has really changed since I started with Lloyd last August.

“I realised I need to stop just thinking in terms of numbers – it’s about more than the scales.

“I can’t believe the difference, my clothes fit much better. My daughter and I can now fit into a pair of my old jeans together!

“I’d encourage anyone to do this. I never thought I’d be going to the gym and loving it, I’d have lost this weight and wearing a size 14.

“There’s no real secret to it. And it’s worth it.”
