DRIVERS were faced with flash flooding after a torrential downpour of rain swept across the Fylde coast.
Police closed off Devonshire Road, near to the Burton’s Biscuit Factory, following the deluge at around 4pm because the road had become impassable.
Breck Road was also flooded in parts.
Residents in Lawson Road, Marton, had to wade to their cars while water flooded into the Floral Hall at the Winter Gardens after gutters and drains overflowed.
But the water was mopped up in time for last night’s performance of The Billy Fury Years to go ahead.
Katie Stevenson, of Elizabeth Court, Poulton, said their residents car park was “like a lake” following the downpour.
She said: “Some people cannot get out of their houses and we reckon there is about two-and-a-half feet of water in the car park.”
