A major disruption is to end three weeks ahead of schedule.

Poulton’s Tithebarn Street bridge will re-open on May 1 after work to strengthen the structure and electrify the railway between Blackpool North and Poulton Station was completed early.

Network Rail closed the link road between Poulton and Carleton on January 7 with the original intention of opening it on May 22.

The announcement will come as a relief to traders and motorists who faced severe disruptions throughout the work.
