Superbowl on Market Street, Blackpool, has re-launched as 1st Bowl boasting 20 bowling lanes spread over two floors.

The previous business went into liquidation four years ago, and the 30,000 sq ft property was bought earlier this year by Garland Leisure

Manager Julie Heaton said it was great to bring bowling back to the resort.

She said: “Everyone who has been in has been really pleased with what we have done here and think it’s great to have a bowling centre back in Blackpool.

“It’s good both for the residents and for the tourism economy.

“It’s a great atmosphere and the staff are really enjoying it too. I think we’ll be really busy and that this will be another key family attraction for the resort.

“We’re going to start up bowling leagues in September, and have got memberships for residents and local companies. We can cater for anybody.”

The bowling centre is licensed until 2am and also serves food, and will be open every day except Christmas Day.

The deal to buy the Blackpool site was part of an acquisition of 11 10-pin bowling centres from AMF Bowling.

Superbowl was purchased for an undisclosed sum from the business’s liquidator, Bennett Verby LLP.

Market Street has seen recent investment totalling £3m including in Yates’s, NTK. the Revolution bar and the new Wetherspoons.
