Hoteliers are hoping a £2m new white knuckle ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach will boost visitor numbers.
As revealed yesterday by The Gazette, work will start this winter on building the ride – dubbed Sky Force – based on the world famous Red Arrows air display team.
Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson says the link-up with the Red Arrows is the “perfect fit” for the park which is fully funding the investment itself.
The ride is due to open next spring.
Matthew Bracegirdle who owns the New Osborne Hotel on Osborne Road, South Shore, said: “While there have been some new family rides at the Pleasure Beach, it is some time since there has been a new white knuckle ride, so this is very welcome news.
“I think people will want to come to Blackpool and experience what’s new about the Pleasure Beach next year.”
Kieran Gogarty, of the Piermont Hotel, also on Osborne Road, said; “Another attraction is always welcome and £2m is a substantial amount.
“It is good to have a mix of rides at the Pleasure Beach so a new white knuckle ride will help bring visitors in.”
Helen Mansell, vice-president of hoteliers group StayBlackpool, said: “It’s fabulous news and it is good to see private investment being made and money going into improvements.
“It is a credit to Amanda Thompson that they are putting money in and thinking about the future.
“Everyone loves the Red Arrows so I’m sure it will be a very popular ride.”
