Rachel Normington has made quite a transformation over the last three years.

Rachel Normington has made quite a transformation over the last three years.

And her new, petite, toned, size six physique has helped earn her a place in the finals of a national beauty contest.

The stunning 25-year-old, from Fleetwood, has reached the finals of the Miss World Classic Body Beautiful competition.

She will be among 100 women from across the country, who will strut their stuff on the catwalk – in evening-wear and swimwear rounds – in front of a live audience and judges from the beauty and fitness industries.

The glamorous event will take place on November 28, at the Five Lakes Crowne Plaza, in Essex.

Miss World Classic is a new beauty show, developed by leading pioneers in fashion, fitness and modelling. It aims to promote health, beauty and fitness, while inspiring and empowering women to be body proud.

And after three years – and counting – of hard work in the gym, Rachel certainly has a body to be proud of!

Rachel regularly lifts weights to stay in shape, along with attending pole fitness and aerial hoop sessions at ECN Bodyworks fitness studios, in Marton.

The school cover supervisor has been a member of the YMCA gym, in Fleetwood for the last three years – where she has lost three stones and gone from a size 12 to a size six in that time.

She hopes taking part in the competition, in the under 25s category, will inspire other women.

She said: “I started training about three years ago and really changed my body, but during the last six months, I managed to tone up even more – and after doing something called the Abs Project at ECN Bodyworks, I lost another 10 per cent body fat.

“After seeing what bikini fitness models were all about, I thought I would give it a go.

“I entered the Miss World Classic competition and I couldn’t believe it when I got through. I cried when I found out.

“To enter, I had to write a bit of a biography and send in a couple of photos.

“I am excited about the
finals, but also really nervous.

“I really hope to inspire others, to show them they can lose weight and be healthy.

“And lifting weights is the way. I do minimal cardio, as I hate running.

“I really want to get the message across to women lifting weights won’t make them bulky.

“I eat clean, so eat a lot of things like chicken, salmon, broccoli, cauliflower, rice, but I also have a ‘cheat’ meal once a week – because I love chocolate and cake.

“When I was a size 12, because I’m only 5ft 2ins, I felt I just needed to do something.

“So I started going to the gym. Once I discovered lifting weights, that was it.

“And the people at the YMCA have been amazing.”
