Children have stepped outside the classroom to take advantage of the spring sunshine by entering their very own flower competition.

Parents were invited to join in the fun at Stanah Primary School for their Stanah in Bloom day of planting seeds in the school grounds.

The foundation stage pupils are also growing their own strawberries, courgettes and tomatoes as well as several bedding plants.

Linda Irvin, from the school’s Foundation Stage team, said: “We have a weekly Come and Play morning where parents are invited into school and this week we combined the session with a ‘Let it Grow’ morning.

“The children and their parents have worked together planting the seeds and we just hope we win the competition now.”
