Dad-of-four Keith Hunt, 56, died in February last year after being diagnosed with a rare case of oesophageal cancer - cancer of the gullet - in 2013.

Now his daughter Laura, 31, hopes to raise £1,500 for Trinity Hospice, where Keith spent his final days.

She said: “Until you go there you don’t realise how good a place it is.

“Dad didn’t want to go into a hospice but eventually he got so bad he had to.

“They told us to treat it like our own home. We ended up with about 15 people in the room with him laughing and joking. I’ve lived in Bispham for years and I had no idea about the great work they do.

“My original aim was to raise £1,000 and raise awareness for Trinity Hospice, but it has taken off quite quickly.

“Now I’d like to raise £1,500.”

The charity night in memory of Keith Hunt will take place on Saturday at 7pm at the New Norcross Social Club on Fleetwood Road.

There will be a pub quiz, drinks, games and a raffle.

Entry costs £5.
