The Swift Hound on Rigby Road in Blackpool re-opens on Monday, after a two-week £281,000 transformation into the town’s first Flaming Grill.
The new brand from the Punch Pub Company sees The Swift Hound remain a community pub, but with an exciting food offer, that boasts an authentic chargrill at the heart of its kitchen.
The menu has been designed for grilling, making the most of the all-year-round authentic BBQ taste, and dishes are served to table on a sizzling skillet to keep food hot and tasty.
Dishes include steaks such as the XL Steak (16oz of chargrilled rump steak) and the UK’s first sizzling Sunday roast.
This dish features a slow roast shoulder of lamb with mint gravy, rib of beef with horseradish gravy and half roast chicken and gravy, which are dished up on a skillet surrounded by all the traditional trimmings.
Swift Hound’s general manager Kath Craig who runs the pub with her husband Jim, said: “We are so excited to be the first Flaming Grill in Blackpool and are determined to bring to our guests, both old and new, a sense of theatre on a plate.
“We will still be a community local but with the bonus of serving flaming good food.
“We are ready for a change and the new menu will be fantastic.”
The Swift Hound is gearing itself up for a grand launch celebration on Sunday, April 17, from noon, with a Wild West themed day.
Kath added: “It’s going to be a wild and fun day of activity where everyone can get involved and let their hair down.
“We are looking for a ‘Sheriff’ to officially open the pub, who will be someone within the community who does a great amount of good work but doesn’t get the deserved recognition. They and their ‘Deputies’ will be treated to a free meal on us, and true VIP treatment.”
If you would like to nominate a ‘Sheriff’ and their ‘Deputies’ – it could be an individual volunteer or a charity group – who you think deserve a flaming treat contact Jim at the Swift Hound on (01253) 299108.
