BLACKPOOL midfielder Keith Southern has undergone an operation to remove a tumour.
Ian Holloway confirmed today the influential midfielder will be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks after undergoing an operation to remove a tumour from one of his testicles.
Holloway explained: “Keith underwent an operation on Wednesday to remove a tumour from one of his testicles and is currently waiting for the results of the biopsy. Initial signs are that the operation went well and he will back training early in the New Year.
“We spoke with Keith on Friday morning and he is in good spirits and he’s gutted not to be involved in the next few fixtures. It is typical of Keith that he was talking about returning to training, he wants to be back in action sooner rather than later.
“He has asked for his privacy to be respected and I am sure each and every supporter wishes him a speedy recovery.”
