BLOOMFIELD Road’s south-east corner won’t be ready until at least Christmas.
Chairman Karl Oyston had hoped to complete the new section of the stand sooner, but work took longer than hoped to get under way, and the project is unlikely to be completed before next year.
When it is finished, the work – which will include corporate boxes in the Armfield Stand – will raise the capacity at Bloomfield Road to 16,500.
It will also allow the new hotel within the South Stand to finally open, with the main exit to the hotel on the outside of the south-east corner.
The knock-on effect of the ongoing work is that the capacity at Bloomfield Road will be reduced, with half of the East Stand closed during the construction period for safety reasons.
That means 2,500 seats are out of action, bringing the capacity down to 13,500.
With almost 10,000 season ticket holders this year – and more than 2,000 seats reserved for away fans – it means it might be difficult for non-season ticket holders to get tickets for some games.
