A special guest will officially start this year’s Brian House Bark in the Park.

South Shore teenager Michael Willacy, who spends one day at week at the Bispham Children’s Hospice and was awarded the Bravest Youngster title at the Radio Wave Awards last year, will start the fund-raising 5k dog walk on April 20 and hand out medals at the finish.

The sponsored event will start at 11am, at Lawson’s Showground, off Lawson Road, Blackpool.

The event is open to all dog lovers and as is suitable for all ages and dog breeds.

This year, dogs and owners can wear Superhero costumes, because the walk is part of the hospice’s involvement in national Children’s Hospice Week, which has superheroes as its theme.

Entry costs £6 per dog – with unlimited human companions.
