PLANS to complete the transformation of the former Pontins holiday camp into a brand new housing estate look set to be given the go-ahead next week.
Councillors are set to discuss plans for phase two of the development when they meet on Wednesday.
Northern Trust already have outline planning permission to build 273 homes on the 38 acre site, and Fylde Council’s development control committee is being recommended to approve a further 73 homes.
In the report to the committee, it states the proposal “offers a significant contribution” towards the council’s requirement to have a five-year housing supply.
If the development is given the go-ahead, the county council’s highways department want to see the speed limit in front of the site, along Clifton Drive North, reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
Blackpool Airport have raised fears the new estate could constrain the airport’s “future development” and “limit (their) ability to contribute to the economic growth of the sub-region”.
