Blackpool MP right on track in Berlin

Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP, Paul Maynard, has undertaken his first official overseas visit as the newly-appointed Rail Minister.

Attending the biannual InnoTrans Rail Trade Fair in Berlin the Rail Minister was able to visit many on the 2,500 rail and rail related industry exhibitions from around the world and attracts over 100,000 industry insiders.

The InnoTrans Trade Fair is the biggest of its kind and is an excellent show case for British business and innovation in the rail industry.

With more than 120 British companies were exhibiting, with many other large multi-nationals with UK based operations, it is important that the Government supports their efforts to drive exports, investment, and UK based jobs.

Mr Maynard said: “I was very impressed at the range and quality of companies exhibiting here in Berlin.

“There was a buzz about the Trade Fair which I am hopefully will translate in to increased co-operation and business for British and UK based companies.

“I really do this we are at the forefront of innovation and was very pleased to meet the very many businessmen and woman who as driving innovation in the UK rail industry.

“It was also important to meet with my counterparts from other countries, so I can understand their challenges and learn from their differing experiences.

“I was pleased to be able to spend a few hectic days banging the drum for British business.

“There are plenty of worldwide opportunities in the post-Brexit world and we as a nation have to take those opportunities.

“Spending time promoting the Britain Rail Industry to potential public and private sector customers from around the world was a small step in finding and making the most of those opportunities.

“ I am happy to shout from the roof tops in my role as Rail Minister about our successes in industry as it will help in some small way to drive future expansion.”
