The death of a 46-year-old man in St Annes was not suspicious, police said.

An investigation was launched after the man, who has not been named, was found unresponsive with injuries at his home in Clifton Drive North.

There are no suspicious circumstances and a file has now been passed to the coroner

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police did not say what his injuries were.

“At 10.40pm on Saturday, January 30, officers were called by the ambulance service to an address on Clifton Road North after a 46-year-old was found unresponsive,” she said.

“He was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a file has now been passed to the coroner.”

Specialist forensic officers dressed in white suits were seeing going in an out of the property by passers-by, leading to speculation on social media about the nature of the investigation.

An inquest will now be held into the man’s death.

Coroners are required by law to investigate any sudden or unexplained death.
