Lifesaving defibrillators and specialist first aid kits have been given to road police officers to help them provide vital help at the scene of accidents.

Officers who patrol roads and motorways across Lancashire have teamed up with the North West Ambulance Service to fit the equipment in six police vehicles.

Three have been provided by NWAS, with the others funded by Lancashire Constabulary.

Insp Andy Trotter said: “It is hoped that the arrival of the new defibrillators and first aid kits could really help our officers save lives at the scene of road collisions until assistance from our ambulance colleagues arrives.”
