A man has been pulled out of the sea by rescuers after falling from North Pier.

Blackpool Lifeboat launched at 11.28pm today to rescue the man, believed to be in his 20s, after staff from the attraction threw him a life-ring.

Paul Parton, a spokesman for Blackpool Lifeboat, said: “Somebody heard his cries for help and staff from the Pier threw him a life-ring

“We launched a D-Class lifeboat to get him in and fortunately it was a calm sea.

“There was an ambulance waiting for him because he was suffering from shock and he has been taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
